How does an atmospheric water generator work?
An atmospheric water generator does what nature does with dew: it cools the air to extract the moisture, then transforms it into potable water, filtered and mineralized.
No wells, no connection to the water network: a simple electrical outlet or a solar installation is enough to produce its water where it is consumed.
The 4-step operation
The principle is the same for all our models, from the small C2 to the collective C60.
1. Air filtration
The ambient air is drawn in through an antimicrobial filter that retains the vast majority of dust and suspended particles.
2. Condensation
A cooling unit lowers the temperature of this clean air: the water vapor condenses into droplets, like the morning dew.
3. Purification
The collected water is purified to eliminate bacteria: with ozone on the C3, C8 and C60 models, and with UV light on the C2 model.
4. Filtration and mineralisation
The water finally passes through an activated carbon filter and then through a mineral cartridge that gives it a pleasant taste, before reaching the tap.
What determines water production?
An atmospheric water generator produces water proportional to humidity and temperature More air: the hotter and wetter the air is, the more it produces.
Tropical climates, such as those in the Antilles, Réunion or Mayotte, allow for maximum production. In continental Europe, the devices are used indoors as soon as the room is sufficiently warm and humid (for example, more than 15 °C and 35 % % humidity for the C2).
Condensate water naturally has a neutral pH of 7.0; the final cartridge enriches it with minerals. Learn more about our technology
Frequently asked questions
Does an atmospheric water generator work everywhere?
A minimum of humidity and heat in the air is required. Production is maximized in warm and humid climates, and lower in cold or very dry air. The operating conditions of each model are detailed on its page.
Is the water produced drinkable?
Yes. After air filtration and condensation, the water is purified (ozone or UV depending on the model), filtered through activated carbon and then mineralized.
Do I need a water connection?
No. The device produces its own water from the air: you just need to plug it into an electrical outlet or a solar installation.
Which model to choose?
It all depends on the amount of water needed: from 3 to 10 liters per day for the C2 up to 250 liters per day for the C60. Compare our generators.
